Responsibilities

Initiates and investigates complainants charging unlawful practices of discrimination against any person because of race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, sex, age, handicap, marital status, or place of birth; Holds hearings, subpoenas witnesses, administer oaths, and seeks the production of evidence related to matters under its investigation; Studies any condition having an adverse effect on intergroup relations in the Municipality, including issues of prejudice, intolerance, bigotry and discrimination as they affect public safety and general welfare; Assists with the enforcement of fair practices in municipal contracts.
