McCully Log House

This two-story log house with its unusual double-decker front porch was built in the early 1800's near James Street by the McCully family and used by them for many years. By 1992 it was due to be torn down, and the Monroeville Historical Society made efforts to rescue it. In June of 1992, volunteers from the Historical Society and community with funds and equipment from the Municipality of Monroeville began dismantling and coding the logs of the house.

Over a period of three years, the logs and field stones from the foundation, chimney, and fireplace were transported to the McGinley House and reassembled. A new roof, chinking, windows, shutters, and inside floors were added. The McCully Log House was completed and opened to the public with a dedication ceremony in October, 1995. Its furnishings include a acorn bedstead, pine wash stand, wooden settee, farming tools and other early American artifacts.
